Guild Rededication Service is a Special Celebration
On Sunday, Guild Convener Moira Dunlop led members of Houston & Killellan Kirk Guild in a wonderful Rededication Service at Morning Worship.
As well as reciting their Act of Dedication, a number of members were also presented with Long Service Awards and badges by Guild Elder Jim McBeath – celebrating more than 540 years of service between those who received awards on Sunday! Between them all, our Guild members have clocked up an impressive 1,191 years of service in total – what a fantastic achievement this is!
Last year they raised £4,900 for the Kirk, for Guild Projects and various charities through fundraising ventures which include the Autumn Cream Tea, the ever-popular Christmas Market and the Daffodil Tea in springtime.
Members have a varied and interesting Syllabus planned for the 2023/24 session, with something for everyone, and new faces are always welcome. They meet at 2pm on alternate Tuesdays, at the West Halls.
The Guild 2021 – 2024 projects range from supporting organisations who find homes for vulnerable children here in Scotland, Starchild for children in Uganda, UNIDA (pioneering education for young Brazilians) and the Vine Trust, with the Kazunzu Village of Hope – balancing local and international needs and making a difference all over the world.
We are blessed to have such an active Guild here in Houston – please support them where you can!
