Launching Houston Hello Singers: Our Dementia-inclusive Choir

Following our successful application to The Power of Music Team at National Academy for Social Prescribing we are delighted to launch our new dementia-inclusive choir, Houston Hello Singers, on Thursday, June 6, 2024!

The choir provides fortnightly sessions full of fun and laughter where participants will sing well-known songs, rounds and venture into some new material.

No singing experience or ability is required to take part – it’s just for fun!

These relaxed, informal sessions will be led by Daniela Hathaway, who has worked on the Memory Spinners project for Scottish Opera, as well as Music In Hospitals & Care for many years.

Singing is joyful and uplifting, and songs from yesteryear can trigger memories, names and relationships that you may have thought lost.

Houston Hello Singers is a communal activity, providing an opportunity to socialise over a well-earned cup of tea and, of course, a biscuit!

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, from 2pm to 3.30pm at the West Halls, Main Street.

If you would like to find out more about the group, then please just pop in or contact Frankie Greenwood on 07817 210777 or email familyandcommunity.houstonkirk@gmail.com

People living with dementia who are not able to attend independently must be accompanied by someone to support them.
