Celebrating Houston & Killellan Kirk at 150!
Plans for a year of events and activities to mark 150 years since our current church building was completed are well under way – with something for everyone in our community to enjoy.
First up is our Photography Competition, with the theme ‘Celebrating Houston Past and Present’. All images must be taken in Houston, and could be of anything including the Kirk, other buildings in the village, animals, nature or people (make sure you have permission!).
We have a Heritage Weekend in September, combined with Doors Open Days, exploring our Kirk’s place at the heart of the community through the ages right through to the present day.
The Guild have kindly offered to host a number of Victoria Afternoon Teas, we have plans for a chocolate morning, a Bridge Tournament and various concerts, including the ever-popular Bearsden Fiddlers.
Two members of our Scottish Country Dancing Group are organising a Ceilidh for next January and the Social Committee are organising a Quiz Night and Fish Supper for March.
Barbara Ann has also invited a number of guest preachers to visit us, including the Right Rev Dr Shaw Paterson, Moderator of the General Assembly, and Rev David Burt, who is Moderator of Clyde Presbytery.
