Holy Communion

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sundays in March and October, at 11am and 6.45pm.

We also hold less formal Communion services several times a year (usually in January and June), when some of our children from Sunday Club are invited to help serve bread and wine to the congregation.

We also stream our services live on our YouTube channel.

WHO CAN RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION?

Holy Communion can be an important part of our journey towards faith.

The Lord’s table is open to anybody who loves the Lord.

It is up to each person to reflect on their own faith journey and decide whether or not they would like to receive Holy Communion.

What to expect

When you come to Church for Holy Communion, you will notice that things look a little different to our usual Sunday Worship days.

The Church will have been ‘dressed’, with a white cloth on the Communion Table, and white cloths along all of the pews too.

Whilst this makes things look a little more formal, the white cloths are to represent one table. They symbolise the fact that, as a congregation, we are all sharing from that same table.

During the service, members of the Kirk Session, and some of our Elders, will hand out small pieces of bread, and cups of Communion wine, symbolising the body and blood of Jesus, to the congregation.

The act of receiving Holy Communion symbolises our community coming together to share a meal in which God nourishes our faith.

Can’t make it to HOLY COMMUNION?

Don’t worry if you can’t make it along to our services in person. You can watch them live by visiting our YouTube channel or you can see previous services here.
