Warm Clothes Appeal: Can We Collect 150 Items For Winter?
Once again this year we will be collecting warm clothes for Barnardo’s Threads, a Paisley-based charity that works within the community, supporting families across Renfrewshire.
We are looking for donations of hats, gloves, scarves, pyjamas, socks and tights for babies, children, teenagers and young adults.
All items must be new with tags, please.
Sharon McGivern, Project Worker for Barnardo’s Threads says: “Lots of the families we work with are dealing with the cost of living crisis – they may be struggling to buy food or items for the home.
“Many are also worried about the cost of heating their homes for their children, so whatever we can provide in terms of warm clothing can make a real difference and they are so grateful for it.
“The kids love getting a nice hat and gloves – their wee eyes light up and it’s lovely to see.”
Since we are celebrating Houston & Killellan Kirk’s 150th anniversary this year, we have set ourselves the target of gathering 150 items of warm clothing for Barnardo’s Threads this winter.
Please do not include any bulky items, like jackets or blankets, as the charity has limited storage space for these.
They can be brought along to Morning Worship on Sunday October 27, November 3 and November 10 (there will be a box at the back of the Church) or handed in to our Foodbank Collection Point on Tuesday October 29, and Tuesday November 5 (from 10am – 12pm only).
We will deliver them to Barnardo’s Threads on November 11, so that staff are able to distribute them quickly.
Thank you very much everyone!
