Warm Winter Clothing Appeal Tops 500 Items!
A massive thank you to everyone who donated hats, scarves, gloves, socks and pyjamas to our Warm Winter Clothing Appeal.
This year, since we are celebrating Houston & Killellan Kirk’s 150th anniversary, we had set ourselves the target of gathering 150 items of warm clothing – and you smashed it!
We gathered a grand total of 512 items of new clothing – including more than 170 pairs of socks, 86 pairs of gloves, 71 hats, 24 scarves, 40 pairs of tights and 80 pairs of pyjamas. This is a fantastic amount and will make a real differences to the families and young people across Renfrewshire that Barnardo’s Threads works with.
Sharon McGivern, Project Worker for Barnardo’s Threads said: “We are overwhelmed at the amount that has been donated – thank you so much. Our families will be absolutely delighted.”
Thank you very much to the volunteers who ran our collection point and helped to gather and sort the donations, and to George and Margaret Ballantyne, who kindly delivered all the clothing on Monday so that staff can start distributing it.
Well done everyone!
